Who

Kris Barnes | Founder

Discovering the power of compost in 2018, Kris volunteered for several years at the Permaculture Research Institute of Australia, Winderong Farm, Northey Street City Farm and most recently at Neighbourhood Farm. It was here in October of 2021, where Nourish Compost was founded, with the aim of supplying the highest quality compost to local growers and home gardeners.

Kris began implementing and testing various compost systems but was ultimately persuaded by the work of Dr David Johnson and his wife Hui-Chun Su Johnson. Their ‘Johnson-Su Bioreactor’ method is extremely fascinating and holds great potential for providing a cost-effective and simple solution to restore biodiversity back to the soil. Biodiversity that is essential for allowing soil and plants to reach their full potential.

Kris also teaches regularly in Brisbane City Council’s Master Composter Course.
